Invest in Tainan and Think Globally

The innovative investment invitation mechanism, the first of its kind among six metropolitan cities around Taiwan, has been adopted by the Tainan City Government and operated in the City as the national level organization. In April, 2011, the "Investment Invitation Service Center" was set up as the one-stop service window of Tainan City for global investment invitation; in January, 2012, the Bureau established "Investment and Commerce Section" to form the task force for the said one-stop service window in charge of the provision of package services with designated personnel, responsibilities, and projects, assistance for prospect enterprises to acquire land, build factories, register industries and businesses, and comply with labor and environmental protection laws.

(1)Overall Outcomes of Business and Industry Investment

Tainan City actively invites prospect enterprises from target markets including Taiwan, China, Japan, the US, and Europe, and the achievements have been outstanding. In the end of March, 2015, 32,979 enterprises were registered in Tainan, a growth of 2.97%, compared to the same period last year; the paid-in capital reached up to NT$82.8417 billion, a growth of 3.59%, compared to the same period last year. The number of business registration in Tainan was 59,718, a growth of 2.09%, compared to the same period last year; the capital of business registration totaled NT$11.595 billion, a growth of 3.58%, compared to the same period last year. These achievements indicate the attractive trend and the stable growth to invest in Tainan. Generally, with the exceptional investment environment and active investment invitation approaches, outstanding performance has been achieved.

(2)Achievements of Investment Invitation to Industrial Parks

Since the merging of Tainan City and County in the end of March, 2015, industrial parks in Tainan City attracted 1,197 investment projects at the amount of NT$838.493 billion, created the annual turnover of NT$1459.87 billion, and increased 68,811 jobs.

Led by President Bernd Barkey, the European Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan exchanged opinions with high-ranking officials of Tainan City Government in 2015. The City Government welcomes the increased investment of members of the Chamber to invest in Tainan.

City Mayor William Lai further enhanced the promotion of Japanese investment to Tainan in order to attract more foreign investment. Tainan City Government conducted the seminar on Japanese investment to Tainan at the Evergreen International Convention Center. The City Mayor presented to the seminar in person to show his sincerity; the seminar attracted the participation of more than 50 Japanese enterprises. With the strong interest to investment in Tainan, all participants wanted to clearly understand the investment environment and the charm of Tainan City via the seminar. In the end, more Japanese enterprises came to invest, operate, and settle down in Tainan.
